Dan Ramsay, the oldest member of the family to appear in the show.
The Ramsay Family are one of the linchpins of the Neighbours series and have been since the show started in 1985.
Ramsay Family History[]
In the 1880s a couple named Mr and Mrs Ramsay lived in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. They were of British heritage, either through convicts or free settlers, maybe grandparents. They had a son Jack Ramsay. Another member of the Ramsay family was Fred Ramsay. By the early 1900s' as Melbourne was growing, the new suburb of Erinsborough was the chosen residence of the Ramsays. They settled there. Jack Ramsay married and had a son Daniel Arthur Ramsay in about 1915. He had a daughter Maud Ramsay. In 1920, Jack Ramsay became Mayor Of Erinsborough. In 1936, Dan married Edna Wilkins and they had a son Max Ramsay in 1940. Another son Tom Ramsay was born in 1941 and Madge Ramsay in 1942.
By the 1960s, Erinsborough was mainly built of farmhouses and timber framed houses. However more and more brick houses built down avenues with cul de sacs leading off them were being built. In 1963, one of the streets off North Avenue was named after Jack, this was called Ramsay Street. Jack later died.
