Rhys Lawson was a main character in Neighbours from 2011 to 2013. He was a scheming doctor at Erinsborough and a notoious womanizer, that is until he fell for Vanessa. He was played by Ben Barber.

Relationship with Vanessa[]
Rhys met Vanessa and was instantly besotted with her fiery personality, although she was currently pregnant with Lucas' child. He didn't seem to mind and tried to woo her into a relationship. They grew even closer and Rhys wanted to propose to her with his mothers' engagement ring. They seemed happy but faced challenges when Rhys' promising career as a surgeon was cut short by a severe hand injury and he began lashing out at Vanessa who was just trying to help him.
She breaks it off and runs into the arms of Lucas, who later, decide to get married to please her parents. Rhys tries to win her back and confesses his love for her, which prompts her to call off the wedding. However, this doesn't make her want him back and she rejects his advances.
They get another chance at love when Rhys comes with her to give birth to Patrick. In the heat of the moment he asks her to marry him and she agrees. Although this engagement is short-lived, as she calls it off to instead explore her true feelings with Lucas. Rhys is hurt but tries to move on by pursuing other women.
Death[]
After the explosion at Sonya and Toadie's wedding, Rhys was caught under the rubble and suffered massive injuries. He picked himself up and wanted to help save others that were injured but was told by Karl he needed to go to hospital to be treated himself. While at hospital, Rhys checked himself out thinking he was fine but ended up collapsing just outside in front of Kyle.
He had a massive blood clot which stopped the blood flow to his lungs and ended up killing him. A heartbroken Kyle leaves to go tell his friends and family.
