Rachel Kinski

Rachel Kinski was a character in Neighbours who appeared from Episode 4789 - 18 August 2005 to Episode 5643 - 11 March 2009. She made a brief return in Episode 5677 - 28 April 2009. She is the middle child of Alex Kinski and the sister of Katya and Zeke. She was played by Caitlin Stasey.

Backstory[]

Rachel Kinski was born in 1991 to Alex and Francesca Kinski. She was one of three children. When she was younger, she had an appetite for knowledge and was an excellent student. She and brother Zeke were both home-schooled by their parents. Following the death of their mother, Alex threw her sister Katya out after she lashed out at her. He later enrolled Rachel and Zeke at Erinsborough High to help develop their social skills and have a normal teenage life.

2005-2009[]

On her first day at school, Rachel was picked on for singing in the corridor and not understanding some of the other students. However, she made friends with Bree Timmins, a fellow social outcast. When Alex decided to transfer Rachel and Zeke to another school, Rachel begged him not to, and he changed his mind. He started dating Susan Kennedy, and the family later moved in with her at No 28. Rachel agreed to go on a date with Jake Rinter, an older boy, and she lied to him about her age. During the date, she heard him making a prank call to Susan and confronted him. Alex called the police, and Jake received a warning, but Rachel decided to see Jake in secret. When he came on too strong during another date, she dumped him. She competed for Bree's friendship following Summer Hoyland's return to Ramsay Street. Alex told Rachel and Zeke that he had terminal leukemia, and Rachel ran away. She and Zeke found Katya and begged her to say goodbye to their father, but she refused. Katya later turned up at his wedding to Susan. That same night, Alex died.

Rachel became friendly with Stingray Timmins, Bree's older brother, but when she kissed him, he said they could not be together because of the age gap. She and Zeke went to live with Katya for a while, but they later moved back in with Susan. Stingray admitted that he loved Rachel, and they began a relationship. She was disgusted to find out that Susan was seeing Karl Kennedy, her ex-husband. Rachel briefly moved out of No 28 but was brought back by Toadfish Rebecchi. She tried to help Stingray with his drink problem and later discovered that he might have fathered Sky Mangel's child. Rachel ended their relationship. She started dating Ringo Brown after she helped him with his fear of water. When Stingray died, she told Ringo that she needed a break from him. She grew jealous of the amount of time he was spending with Carmella Cammeniti, and when he declared his love for her, Rachel was devastated. Eventually, she decided that their relationship was over.

Rachel met Angus Henderson at the pool and let him believe she was at university. They were both shocked to realise that he was her new teacher at Erinsborough High. He initially wanted nothing to do with her, but they decided to have a secret relationship. When she learned that Jessica Wallace knew about them, Rachel left a dance party to see him, and they spent the night together. Declan Napier revealed the relationship, and Daniel Fitzgerald tricked her into confessing the truth. Angus was then sentenced to six months in jail, and he gave her a letter and a ring. She wrote to him, but he returned the letters. He later asked her to visit him, and he told her that he loved her. When he was released early, she helped him find a home and briefly moved in with him. Someone threw a brick through his flat window, and it injured her. Angus left town for a while, but they reunited. He accepted a job in South Australia, and she initially agreed to go with him, but she later changed her mind. A few weeks later, Rachel and her friends, Bridget Parker and Donna Freedman, all feared they were pregnant. They took pregnancy tests together, but only Bridget's came back positive.

Taylah Jordan's cousin Ty Harper arrived in town, and Taylah tried to set Rachel up with him. He and Rachel wrote a song, later singing it at the school formal together. She told him about her feelings for him, and they began dating. When Zeke disappeared during a rafting accident, she threw herself into her music career and tried to take her relationship with Ty further. She also blamed stepsister Libby Kennedy for letting go of Zeke's hand at the time of his accident. Zeke was found, but he only recognised Rachel, until she took him back to the place where he had been held. She received a scholarship to a school in London, but she turned it down to be with Ty. Ty decided to break up with her so that she would go, and it worked. He rushed to the airport and told her that he loved her before she left. He later joined her in London.
