As of 2020, Tim Robards was planning to end his role on Neighbours due to the pregnancy of his wife and the fact that they live in Sydney. When the Stage 4 COVID-19 restrictions were imposed on Victoria, Tim made the decision to leave the show early due to border restrictions between Victoria and NSW and the need to be accessible to his wife who is in the last months of her pregnancy.
However, there were still two months of scenes needing to be filmed before Pierce's exit and as such, Neighbours producers made the decision to recast Tim with prominent Australian actor Don Hany taking over the role for the final five weeks of Pierce's storyline. Don Hany is also known for his marriage to Alin Sumarwata who played Vanessa Villante.
Sharon Johal’s real life husband Ankur Dogra doubled for Pierce during their intimate scenes due to COVID-19 rules at the time of filming.
