1997 was Neighbours 13th year in production. One of the major storylines of this year was the death of the last remaining original character, matriarch Helen Daniels in October of this year, in Episode 2965 - 17 October 1997. After this episode, all the original characters of Neighbours had departed the show. This remained until December 2004 when Paul Robinson returned.
