Mrs York.
Anabelle York "Mrs York" was a minor character in Neighbours in 1986. She was an elderly widow. Mrs York was played by Esme Melville.

Backstory[]
Annabelle was born in about 1915. In the mid 1930s she met Eric York and they were married by 1936. They never had any children. Mrs York and her husband lived in a house in Erinsborough. Eric York died in 1971. Mrs York bought a dog, Billy. She gave a lot of money to charity and was friends with Helen Daniels, who lived in nearby Ramsay Street.
1986[]
In June 1986, Mrk York, now aged about 70, began picking up leftover food for her dog Billy. Her friends Helen Daniels and Madge Mitchell visited her and saw much of her furniture was gone. Mrs York said it was a burglary. They did not believe her, they thought she was selling her furniture. Also she was not donating to charity as much as she used to. It transpired she was on hard times and was actually having some of the stale food herself. She was too proud to ask for help. One time Bradley Townsend and Lucy Robinson left her sandwiches. Clive Gibbons went to see her but there was no answer. He climbed through the window and saw she was unconscious on the floor. Mrs York woke up but was taken to hospital where she felt a lot better.
Mrs York came home a few days later and when Clive and Madge went to get her some food, Mrs York passed away in her armchair. Clive and Madge returned and saw she had died. A doctor was called. She would have died of malnutrition due to not having a decent meal for ages, and living off leftovers from the coffee shop, mainly bread. Mrs York was buried a few days later. Many people attended her funeral.
The Robinsons took in her elderly dog Billy but Billy returned to Mrs York's house, laid down and died. Tom Ramsay buried the dog in the back garden. Mrs York's house was later sold.
