Biography[]
Backstory[]
Ling Mai Chan was born in 1964 in Hong Kong, the illegitimate daughter of medical student Su Chan and Australian Lou Carpenter. Lou and Su had a romance in 1963 when he was 21. Lou returned to Australia without Su after she rejected his offer to come back with him.
1994-1995[]
In late 1994, Ling Mai managed to track her father Lou Carpenter down. She sent letters to him. Lou tried to hide this from his new wife Cheryl Stark. Cheryl saw Lou chatting with Ling Mai and accused him of having an affair. As Ling Mai was young, Cheryl thought Lou was seeing a younger woman, young enough to be his daughter when in fact she was his daughter. Lou said the woman Cheryl saw with him was his daughter. Lou and Lig Mai bonded.
In February 1995, Ling Mai's fiancee Bin followed her to Australia and Ling Mai decided to move back to Hong Kong with him.
After 1995[]
Lou kept in touch with Ling Mai. He visited her in 2004. Lou also flew over to Hong Kong in 2013 to visit her. He had mentioned her to Sheila Canning.
