Biography
Backstory
Finn Conrad Kelly was born in about 1988 to Trent Kelly and Claudia who later married an Errol Watkins. Claudia and Errol had a son Shaun Watkins, who is Finn's younger half brother.
2017
In March 2017 Finn took over as a replacement teacher for Brad Willis. Susan Kennedy introduced him to the class. Elly Conway was gobsmacked as she once dated Finn.
Finn later makes a plan to sabotage Susan Kennedy. He keeps notes on Susan's failings, hoping that it will help him to become principal. Finn and Elly get back together. Finn later is revealed to have a brain aneurysm. He applies for the acting assistant principal position, and reveals his relationship with Elly to get Susan removed from the interview board, as she has a conflict of interest. Elly tells Finn that she can not trust him and breaks up with him. Susan orders Finn to stop coaching Xanthe, but they agree to meet secretly.
Finn later swaps Susan's MS tablets with Piper Willis' painkillers. Susan suffers a relapse. Finn brings in some changes to the school which Piper disagrees to and starts a strike over. Finn's medication swap is discovered when Nell Rebecchi swallows some of the pain killers and is hospitalised. Finn tries to flee to Hong Kong with Xanthe but they are taken off the plane by the police. Finn tries to frame Xanthe. Xanthe later meets with Finn and secretly records a confession. When Finn tries to grab her phone, he collapses after suffering a haemorrhagic stroke.
Finn is hospitalised at Erinsborough Hospital and has surgery to remove the bleed. Susan's husband Karl Kennedy, a lead doctor there visits Finn in his hospital room and says if he had his way he would not treat him and the bed could be used for good people. Karl says the hospital has an obligation to treat him. Finn pretends he has paralysis. Mark Brennan tries to get Finn to confess to everything. Finn begs Susan to help him but she refuses as she knows he is not remorseful. Finn is then transferred to a prison hospital.
2018-2020
Finn Kelly returned in 2018, claiming to be in a wheelchair. He developed a friendship with Bea Nilsson. Finn used to get cagey when Bea was seen near his personal possessions. He was worried that she would blow his scam. Finn became moody with Bea.
In 2019, Finn was accidentally pushed off a cliff by Susan Kennedy. In hospital, it emerged he had amnesia. Former Erinsborough resident Beverley Marshall (now Robinson) used her expertise to diagnose Finn.
Nearly a year later, Finn's memory returned and he started to fall for Elly again. He meets his father and finds out that he had gambled intended ransom money needed for when he was held hostage during a trip to Colombia and attacks him. He later plans to kill Bea by pushing her down a mineshaft on Pierce Greyson's island, believing her to be the sole obstacle in the way of a relationship with Elly. Before he travels to the island for Elly's 35th birthday celebrations, he plants a bomb in the honeymoon package of Lucy Robinson who chastised him several times for attending Lassiter's events.
Once he arrives on the island, he begins executing his revenge plan. He pushes Bea down a mineshaft and leaves her to die. Finn lies to the others at his glamping site that he broke up with Bea and she has gone to Sydney while sending texts on her phone pretending to be her.
After his lawyer Toadie Rebecchi discovers the dinghy that he claims Bea took (and which the glampers used to reach the island), Finn attacks him with a rock, places his body in the dinghy and sails it out towards the mainland, after puncturing a hole in the bottom.
The bomb intended for Lucy ends up killing Prue Wallace instead, after Lucy and Paige Smith switch the tags.
Pierce later finds out that his son Hendrix Greyson and Prue's daughter Harlow Robinson are also on the island, and Harlow is missing. While searching for her, he checks to see if Bea has died, and finds out that she is alive and Harlow is in the mineshaft. Not wanting to let Bea live, he chooses to leave Harlow to die as well. After throwing some rocks in an attempt to hit them on their heads in vain, he throws a snake in the mineshaft which bites Harlow.
Bea and Harlow were later found by Gary Canning, Xanthe's father, who had arrived on the island on the second day of the glamping trip, and had been suspicious of Finn as it was not the first time two women had gone missing when the latter was around. After learning that Gary is searching for Harlow in the area where the mineshaft is, Finn chases after him, armed with a bow and set of arrows. As Gary attempts to rescue Bea and Harlow, Finn shoots him in the back, killing him instantly.
Having made plans to go to Sydney with Elly and her daughter Aster Conway to "see" Bea, Finn prepares to depart. Elly goes with him to the island's beach, despite her suspicions after seeing blood on his shirt and being told by Chloe that the latter was berated by the former for interfering in their relationship. However, Elly discovers Finn's deception after finding Bea and Toadie's phones in his backpack.
Elly runs for her life, but Finn chases after her attempting to take her and Aster. After running for a while through the bushes, Elly finds Gary's dead body, and inadvertently alerts Finn to her presence by screaming. Angered at Elly for not appreciating him eliminating Bea and Gary, Finn kidnaps Aster, leaves Elly in the mineshaft and leaves after setting the island on fire.
Reaching Ramsay Street late a night, Finn lies to Susan that Bea is in a cabin at the Snowy Mountains waiting for them, while claiming Elly, Aster and the other glampers are on the island. On the way to the cabin, Susan discovers Aster in the backseat of the car, and confronts Finn, who tells her a half-truth about his plan and lies about how Elly has treated him and that he wants to start a new life with her, Harry and Aster. Susan, oblivious to his murderous crimes, assures him he needs help and that the other Ramsay Street residents would understand.
When Finn catches Susan trying to turn him to the police, he becomes enraged, ties her to a chair and shouts that she will never be a mother to him, contradicting his earlier statement of her being the only mother figure in his life. He also confesses to hurting Elly and Bea and killing Gary and then leaves to dig a grave for Susan.
While attempting to climb out of the grave, Finn slips on muddy ground and hits his head on a rock, paralysing him. Having turned a tap on to assist in digging the grave, water begins to fill it, drowning Finn. Elly, who had arrived to rescue Susan and Aster, later discovers his body, and in a moment of rage attempts to bury it. Susan later removes all evidence of Finn from her house.
Paul Robinson rescues Toadie, while going to rescue Harlow, and convinces Harry to help him get Toadie to hospital after being held at gunpoint for some time. Harry is finally convinced after realising Finn set the island on fire. Paul reaches the island with Toadie and informs the others of what has happened to the latter and Bea. They rescue Elly, Bea and Harlow from the mineshaft and are eventually evacuated from the island.
Due to Elly attempting to bury Finn's body, she is arrested and charged with the latter's murder. The charge is later downgraded to voluntary manslaughter after Sky Mangel convinces the prosecution to at least give her the chance of a suspended sentence instead of prison time. However, Claudia and her lawyer Samantha Fitzgerald, blackmails the judge into giving Elly prison time so that the former has a better chance of gaining custody of Aster (as she is Claudia's granddaughter and Shaun's daughter). As a result, Elly is falsely sentenced to 3 years imprisonment with a 2-year non-parole period after pleading guilty.
