Synopsis[]
At No 28 Ramsay Street, Des Clarke says he cannot up and leave for a holiday. Des says he is going to bed. Mike Young says he will talk Des round in the morning. The next morning, Des still will not go. He asks Mike to drop the matter. At No 26 Ramsay Street, Helen Daniels is cooking a meal. A pride filled Jim Robinson is still annoyed that Paul Robinson took pity on him and tried to get him a job. Harold Bishop and Madge Ramsay's wedding is coming, and everyone is talking about it, and arranging it. At the cafe, Harold and Mrs Mangel hatch a plan to get des to go for a deserved break. Mrs Mangel and Helen chat about the wedding coming up, and she has even got Helen's back up now. Helen is babysitting Jamie Clarke. Helen calls Paul Robinson to ask his help to bring Mrs Mangel down a peg or 2. Malcolm Clarke, Sally Wells, Mike and Harold try to persuade Des to take the trip. Des suggests his own mother Eileen Clarke. Paul wants some reports from Mrs Mangel, and says it will involve overtime. Paul says he wants staff who do not make a song and dance about every issue. She accuses him of blackmail when he says her going to Harold about the wedding is a black mark against her name and employment with him. Des chats with Helen. Malcolm visits Mrs Mangel. He says Des has suggested that Eileen go in Malcolm's place instead of Des. Mrs Mangel thinks Malcolm is trying to ease his conscience about dumping her at their re-wedding.
